(1901–54), hearings examiner, Legal Division, wartime FEPC; staff member, Division of Field Operations, FEPC (1943–45); recruited to FEPC by Will Maslow; noted defense lawyer for leftist sympathizers and Trenton Six; defense lawyer along with his father, Alexander, in espionage trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg (1950–53); guardian of Rosenbergs’ children until his sudden death by a heart attack.
