Weekly Report for the Week Ending Saturday, January 27, 1945

OUTSTANDING EVENTS AND PROBLEMS

I have discussed with the Legal Division certain steps which are necessary for preparation of cases in Region VII which are ready for hearing. The informal suggestions of the Legal Division were incorporated in a memorandum dated January 26 and sent to the Region.1

We have received a report from the War Department finally on cases against the Richmond Army Service Forces Depot, Richmond, Virginia. It appears that one of the cases may be satisfactorily adjusted and some progress has been made in the overall hiring policies of the Depot. However, the report is characteristically evasive and generally reflects an attitude of covering up rather than cooperation.2
