Re: WMC clearance for Bell Aircraft in Atlanta
August 19, 1944
In keeping with your request I called Miss Bernice Lotwin, Assistant General Counsel, WMC, concerning the information we received from Mr. Bruce Hunt regarding clearance given to Bell Aircraft in Region VII.1
Miss Lotwin said that she sent a wire to Mr. Dillard Lasseter on this matter but had not received a reply. She suggested that we check with her again on Tuesday since Mr. Lasseter was away from the region at a conference of regional directors.
Since I will not be in the office on Tuesday I presume you will make a follow-up check with her.

[1] The FEPC opposed the WMC’s giving clearance for a company to recruit additional workers from other parts of the country if it was discriminating against locally available minority workers. See the section on the WMC and USES in the headnote on Relationships with Federal Agencies and the headnote on the Aircraft Industry.
