Willis, Ivan Laurel

Biography: 

(1897–1974), business executive and industrial relations expert. He worked for the Mayo Clinic, Standard Oil of New Jersey, and Curtiss-Wright/Wright Aeronautical in the field of industrial relations; after 1946, he was vice president for industrial relations at International Harvester. Willis worked closely with Mitchell in developing procedures to recruit and retain qualified black workers; he was also instrumental in working with management and the unions to ensure that black workers were welcomed and accepted as equals. He was chair of the Industrial Relations Committee of National Aeronautical Chamber of Commerce. He gave FEPC information on postwar employment prospects for blacks in aircraft industry.
