Biography: 

(1916–1998), public relations chairman, Chicago Committee on Fair Employment Practices (1942); field rep. under Weaver in Negro Employment and Training Branch and Negro Manpower Service, OPM (1942); assisted in preparations for FEPC hearings in Birmingham (1942), when he testified; later transferred to WMC; investigated black employment problems in Miss., Memphis, Charleston, among others. Gave information to Mitchell on progress in employment in Region VII after hearings were held in Birmingham; drafted (1943), served in U.S. Air Force (–1946); later, prof. of sociology, author of several works on blacks, Communist Party.
