Biography:
(1888–1978), Minneapolis lawyer; president, Federal Cartridge Corp. (1921–75), chair of board (1975–78); operated Twin Cities Ordnance plant, for which he hired many blacks; member, second FEPC (1944–46); member, national committee, Urban League. His progressive employment policies set a new pattern for employment of blacks in Minneapolis area. Born in Iowa.
