Action on Machinists Cases

Region XII has again directed to our attention complaints against the Aeronautical Lodge 751 of the IAM. As I stated in my memorandum of March 7, 1945,1 the regional offices are faced with unresolved cases involving this union and I will appreciate it if I could have an opportunity to confer with the sub-Committee handling this matter.2

My objective, of course, would be an early conference with Mr. Harvey Brown. The new complaints against Lodge 751 allege that Negro workers are charged permit fees but at the same time are denied membership solely because of their race.

For other sources and cross-references, see the section on the International Association of Machinists in the headnote on the FEPC and Unions.
