Biography:
a leader of SNOV, the local organization of black shipbuilders in Portland, Oregon, that sought to overcome discrimination by shipbuilding companies, relevant unions there. Denied promotion to leaderman because of race. Testified at Portland FEPC hearing on Boilermakers cases (November 1943).
